Inhalation:
• Direct inhalation—simply smell them.
• Diffuse using a Young Living diffuser which disperses the oil (into the air) in a micro-fine vapor.
• Fill a humidifier with water. Place a tissue or small cloth, sprinkled with a few drops of oil, in front of the escaping vapor. (Do not put oil in your humidifier. It will float on top of the water instead of rising with the water vapor and may cause damage to your humidifier.)
• Carefully pour hot water into a bowl and add a few drops of oil. Cover your head and bowl in a tent-like fashion with a towel. Breathe deeply and slowly.
Topical Application:
Key points of application on the body include:
• Crown of head • Forehead • Temples • Behind ears
• Neck • Soles and top of feet • Upper back • Ankles • Abdomen • Over vital organs
To apply topically on any of these areas, follow these simple steps:
1. Place 2–3 drops of oil in the palm of the hand or apply directly to the desired area.
2. If placing oil in your hand, rub your palms together in a circular motion and then massage the oil onto the desired areas. If applying directly, use your hand to massage the oil in a circular motion into the skin. Repeat if necessary.
Attention: Essential oils are very potent, and some may be irritating to the skin. If irritation occurs, immediately apply V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex or pure vegetable oil to the area to dilute. Please read label directions for each individual oil before using.
Internal Consumption:
• Add several drops of oil to an empty capsule and swallow with water.
• Add 1–2 drops to a glass of water or rice milk.
• Place 1–2 drops onto a slice of bread or add to your meals when cooking.
• Add 1–2 drops onto a teaspoon of Young Living Blue Agave and swallow.
• Drop directly onto the tongue and swallow. Since certain oils are very strong, use caution by first pouring a single drop onto a spoon and tasting to determine the amount to be used.
Other basic guidelines:
- Some essential oils are photosensitive. What this means is that they may react on your skin to direct sunlight by causing a rash or darken pigmentation. Be careful for 1-2 days. When I use these oils I put them where they will be covered by clothing if I expect to be outside. Oils to be careful with are all citrus such as orange, tangerine, lemon and grapefruit and blends that include them, as well as angelica and bergamont.
- Always be careful around your eyes. Wash your hands and applying oils and prior to touching your eyes or contacts lens.
- If you are pregnant, always consult your health-care professional prior to starting any new health care program.
- If you have particularly sensitive skin always try a new oil on an area, like the inside of your upper arm, and wait about 30 minutes before applying any more. Generally the bottoms of our feet are a safe location if other skin areas are sensitive.
